The Learning from the Extremes project oranised a Webinar to familiarize teachers with Artificial Intelligence and introduce them to current applications of AI, which can serve teaching and learning objectives. In the first part of the webinar, the researchers presented the objectives of the project AI4EDU: Conversational AI assistant for teaching and learning and introduced teachers to conversational AI technologies and their applications in education. Specific educational use cases of ChatGPT, related to various school subjects, such as providing information on a topic, generating comprehension questions, preparing lesson plans etc., were demonstrated.

Moreover, an AI-powered conversational assistant was presented and teachers were invited to use it in similar use cases. Teachers were also invited to fill in a questionnaire, to indicate their level of awareness of AI technologies, to evaluate their experience of using the chatbot, and to propose scenarios for its use in the educational practice, according to their needs.

The webinar was part of the research activities of the Erasmus+ project AI4EDU: Conversational AI assistant for teaching and learning (website: https://ai4edu.eu/) and aimed to contribute to the acceptance of AI systems as teaching and learning companions and to the awareness of the educational community of the human role in AI deployment in education.
