On June 1-2, 2024, the EduTech Summit & Expo successfully took place at the historic Zappeion in Athens, Greece. This event attracted over 2,000 participants, including educators, policymakers, technology developers, and industry leaders from around the world. The conference provided a platform to explore and discuss the latest advancements in educational technology and AI integration. A significant highlight was Dr. Vassilis Katsouros’s presentation on the AI4EDU project. His talk, titled “Enabling Students, Empowering Teachers: Transforming Education with the Power of Generative AI,” detailed how tools like Teacher Mate and Study Buddy are revolutionizing education. Dr. Katsouros emphasized the transformative potential of generative AI technologies, such as ChatGPT, in creating personalized, interactive learning experiences. He also addressed the ethical considerations and practical challenges of implementing AI in educational settings. The AI4EDU project, coordinated by the Institute for Language and Speech Processing at Athena Research Center, focuses on developing inclusive and ethically sound AI applications for education. The conference facilitated numerous discussions on topics such as online learning, STEM education, and the broader impact of AI on teaching methodologies.
