The Special Education Degree Conference 2025, held on June 3 at Vetenskapens hus in Luleå, brought together future special educators, researchers, teachers, and school leaders to discuss practice-based research and innovation in special education. The event featured presentations on topics such as teachers’ attitudes toward student transitions in secondary schools and the challenges faced by twice-exceptional students who are both gifted and diagnosed with ADHD. A poster session highlighted student-led research on inclusive education, school absenteeism, teaching assistants, and parental influence on reading motivation. Keynote speaker Viktor Långdahl emphasized the importance of play, participation, and inclusion in preschool education, while Viktor Gardelli and Hamam Mokayed introduced the EU-funded AI4EDU project, demonstrating how AI can support both educators and students. The conference reinforced the importance of ethical, evidence-based, and inclusive approaches to education, stressing stronger collaboration between education, social services, and labour sectors while positioning Lanzarote as a forward-looking region in AI-enabled education.
