Ellinogermaniki Agogi (EA) hosted the European Researchers’ Night in Athens as part of the PICO EU-funded project, designed to bridge the gap between cutting-edge research and public understanding. This event, held at EA’s Pallini campus, drew around 400 visitors, including parents, children, educators, and the general public, offering a dynamic platform for interaction with science.
A key highlight of the event was the demonstration of the AI4EDU prototypes by Gregory Milopoulos and the EA team. These prototypes showcased how artificial intelligence (AI) could enhance educational experiences for both students and teachers. Two main AI tools were featured: the “Study Buddy” and “Teacher Mate.” The Study Buddy acts as a conversational AI assistant for students, aiding with assignments, quiz generation, and interactive learning. On the other hand, Teacher Mate helps teachers by automating tasks like test creation and grading, providing personalized feedback, and aligning educational materials with the curriculum
The European Researchers’ Night is a major science outreach event held across Europe, supported by the European Commission under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. It aims to promote public engagement with scientific research and its impact on addressing global challenges. The event in Athens, part of the broader European initiative, allowed attendees to interact with live demonstrations and hands-on science activities, making science more accessible and fostering a deeper appreciation for research
This night provided a unique opportunity for students, parents, and educators to witness the potential of AI in transforming education. Through these AI-powered tools, the future of teaching and learning becomes more personalized and efficient, creating opportunities for more engaging and inclusive educatio
